How to Paint Miniatures
I under coated Boromir in black paint and started by painting his skin first.
Next, paint the hair then the clothes in order of how the character would get dressed; undergarments, boots, followed by armor, equipment and weapons.

Undercoat the miniature in black and use dry brushing for the base coat. Paint the figure starting with the skin and facial hair followed by how you would dress the miniature; undergarments, cloak, pants, boots, then finally equipment. In some instances, instead of dry brushing I will paint the color directly on the figure making sure to leave the deep crevices black.
Here I've painted Aragorn's equipment after his clothing.
To complete the base, I painted the ballast grey. Once dried, I gave it a wash with dark grey paint. Finally, I mixed a light gray colored paint and dry brushed on the stones to create a shaded effect.
